We take wood with carefully chosen, beautiful grain and infuse the fibres with fire, the outer layers become deeply charred and black with intensity. When the burnt ashes are carefully removed, the woodgrain is revealed as fire and wood combined, to the eye the wood shimmers with sparks of light, moving and dynamic, contrasting against the deep density of the background.
We LOVE what we do and we are continuing to develop our special finishing techniques to craft together nature’s elements rather like the Alchemists of old, taking inspiration from ancient Japanese techniques that are as incredible as they are divine.
The surface of the wood becomes three dimensional, the graining stands proud, sometimes smooth like waves approaching a beach, sometimes bold and prominent. The texture is inviting to the touch and gives life to what was before flat and raw.
Here at Black Fire Designs, our focus is to craft a piece of design that is special, unique and created as one of a kind, that contains a story to be told.
We are currently working on commissions, but are excited to announce a soon to launch Etsy store and a website where you can follow our story and purchase our latest furniture and designs! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enjoy the water – it’s almost still FREE 😉

#2MinuteBeachClean have some great news. After more than a year of work their #2minutebeachclean APP is now ready to be released by their tech rock god Alan Beech. It will allow you to easily log the litter you collect on your beach cleans and to assign them to a Beach Clean Station or the beach. It means they’ll be able to build up a picture of what’s being found at that location and will know how successful the Station is. In time the team hope they’ll be able to build up a picture of what is happening on a daily basis.
SEARCH: beachclean on the Apple or Android stores
Of course that relies on as many of us using the app as possible, so please give it a try. If you have problems, let them know and they’ll get them fixed.

Offering the highest quality individual candles with a personal touch, each is unique and produced using the finest sourced ingredients to allow for a longer and more even burn.
With a sophisticated fragrance library available, as well as the option to commission your own bespoke blend, there is a scent for everyone. From the tranquillity of the Roseland to the flourishing Fal, the locality offers no shortage of inspiration. The Cornish Candle Company use a bespoke luxurious formula for each and every candle. The Cornish beeswax emulates natural undertones of the wildflower, clover and bramble, and the depth of quality woody fragrance differs according to what the bees are pollinating on. This is then blended with a refined premium wax that has been filtered by hand and combines to give a superior and quality burn.
The Cornish Candle Company’s online store now has their new Winter Wonderland fragrance available. With top notes of citrus oranges and lemon through to warm cinnamon and clove with hints of floral jasmine, there is something in this blend for everyone!
The Cornish Candle Company will also be exhibiting at the Cornwall Macmillan Christmas Fair this year on the 15-16th November at the Eden Project.
“Worker to Walker, boots with sole”
Trailback boots are rigger style originally developed for the North Sea Oil riggers. Riggers were worker boots with a steel toe cap and steel penetration resistance in the sole. Trailback have removed all the steel from this robust, triple stitched, full grain leather and fully waterproof worker boot. They have refined this product of excellence and adapted it to meet the needs of the dog walker, rambler or festival goer and it is now an extremely stylish and desirable boot. The Trailback’s are also Goodyear welted which is a high-quality shoemaking technique that can only be carried out by skilled craftsmen and women. The Trailback is no longer a working safety boot, it is now designed as an outdoor lowland rambler for comfortable distance walking on predictable paths.
A perfect present for any outdoorsy person this winter season.

Every piece of jewellery is handcrafted by Lucy in her small workshop in Cornwall. The techniques she uses are ones that have remained unchanged for hundreds of years and she prefers to use traditional tools from her Grandad’s workshop to help keep her anchored to her inspiration.
The hands-on approach means her work feels organic, allowing marks made during the process to remain as an integral part of the surface, giving the owner a feeling of how each piece has been formed and the time involved in creating it. Hand beating gives texture to the silver and gold so it catches the light, ensuring that each piece of jewellery has its own identity and organic form.
Lucy is a part of a group show called Creek Arts and Crafts – Winter Fair. And She will be at the Poly Contemporary Crafts fair with her jewellery from 28th November – 3rd December: http://thepoly.org/whats-on/event/195/winter-fair-contemporary-arts-and-crafts.
Triple9HQ.com, is the brainchild of Mandy and Keith Boyd of Camborne and is the UK’s first and only online shop specialising in leisurewear and accessories that honour the unsung heroes of Britain’s emergency response services.
Up until now, the main source of clothing brandishing the thin red line for fire, thin blue line for police and thin green line for paramedics have had to be purchased from the USA. The decision to create a British outlet for branded emergency service leisurewear was a “no-brainer” for the couple. They understand, first-hand, the dedication of those who serve our communities. While husband Keith has been an on-call firefighter for almost 20 years, co-founder Mandy grew up with the fire service.
“You could say that the services are in my blood,” adds Mandy. “As well as being a firefighter’s wife, I’m a firefighter’s daughter; my father joined St Ives station when I was five and served for 18 years and my eldest son Andrew is now a firefighter, too! With three generations of public service in one family, we understand what amazing work those on the front line do, despite the mounting pressures they face. They put themselves at risk each and every day… yet their efforts are often overlooked. That’s why setting up our shop at Triple9HQ.com is so important. It creates an opportunity for everyone to show their support… quite literally!”
Our website, which will be going live shortly, will initially focus on the fire and rescue service with police and paramedic sections going live early in 2018. To find out more about Triple9HQ.com, visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/triple9hq.

After years working as wedding photographers, Sam and Joanne had seen plenty of mobile and temporary bars, and they spotted a need for a real show-stopping offer. Meet The Buffalo, a glamorous travelling bar that tours around the South West, wowing weddings and delighting festival-goers with cocktails, craft beers and a superb range of quality spirits.
At the centre of the business is “The Old Girl”, an iconic 1964 American Airstream caravan. She was tracked down in Bude and lovingly restored to her current gleaming condition. Sam and Joanne fitted her out with an exquisite interior of reclaimed wood and copper surfaces. There’s a glass washer and enough fridges to keep all the drinks cool, as well as plenty of space for pouring and mixing.
Sam says: “There’s no room here for warm, flat drinks in plastic cups. We provide the same slick and professional experience you get in a high-end bar.”
The Buffalo also offers specialist Cornish drinks packages. “We’re so lucky in Cornwall to have such fantastic local distillers and brewers,” says Joanne. The couple has also created their own range of infused liqueurs and spirits: try their jalapeño-infused tequila, sloe gin or elderflower liqueur!
The new bar has got off to such a busy start that Sam and Joanne have recently acquired a second vintage Airstream to renovate. The beginning of a whole herd of Buffalo?
If you have an event planned and would like The Old Girl and her team to come along, please contact Sam and Joanne at email@example.com. To see what the Buffalo team is up to, follow them on Instagram @thebuffalobar.
Freda’s Peanut Butter are preparing for their biggest event yet at the Festive Gift Fair held at the NEC in Birmingham. They have doubled the amount of peanut butter they would normally make and have been preparing the decorations for their Christmas pitch – which has involved making lots of pom-poms and sticking peanuts on garlands! Next week Freda’s will also launch their new chocolate peanut butter flavour.
Owner of Freda’s, Lisa Newsham, said: “If I say so myself, the chocolate peanut butter is deliciously moreish, I can’t wait to see whether it will become our new best seller!”
“After the Festive Gift Fair at the NEC, we’ve got Christmas events at Bedruthan Steps on the 25th and 26th November followed by the Made in Cornwall show on Lemon Quay in Truro, then the Christmas Gift Fair also on Lemon Quay.”
In between, we will be doing all the Christmas late night shopping markets in Truro on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Our last market is on December 23rd, and then we’re taking a couple of weeks off!!”
Melanie Allcott is the brains behind Rebalance Organic Reflexology. She is a fully-qualified therapist that provides organic reflexology treatments for individuals and the workplace in Falmouth and the surrounding areas. Melanie uses only organic, natural products (from a small producer in West Cornwall) and aims to provide therapeutic, soothing treatments in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Reflexology is a safe, natural therapy that supports your physical and mental well-being and is suitable for everyone! Life is busy and we can find ourselves in a constant state of stress, even if we aren’t aware of it. This results in a body that doesn’t function as well as it should and can often be a reason for common health niggles like colds, aches and pains, and tiredness.
A reflexology treatment enables you to hit the pause button, rest, and recharge your batteries. It restores your body to a state of calm, provides deep relaxation, and helps your body heal itself naturally. Mentally, a reflexology session enables you to get some much-needed headspace away from life’s demands, clearing your mind and refreshing you when you feel out of kilter. Essentially, reflexology rebalances areas of your body that are out of sync and, quite simply, helps it work better!
Reflexology is the perfect gift for Christmas! This festive season you can purchase seasonal gift vouchers for any amount or number of sessions, treatment packages tailored for your loved ones, and group pamper sessions for employees, family and friends.

Calm, confidence, control – in time for Christmas.
£20 off a first session AND £20 cash back for referrals (contact us for details).
Christmas is a time for food, family and … arrghhh! Fortunately, it’s not the events, people or lists themselves that stress us out – only our responses to them. Which is good news. These are things we can control – sometimes more than we think.
Hypnotherapy is a natural way of helping us stay calm and in control. It’s based on neuroscience and relaxation techniques. It can work quickly – significant changes are achievable by Christmas. Imagine feeling naturally in control of your eating, or exercise, without really trying. This is something people frequently achieve with the help of hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy is also great for relationships. Fight or flight is not the best way to approach Christmas. Rest and digest are. Tend and befriend. Any list, activity or interaction is much easier and more enjoyable when we are calm.
